Blast Helmet

The Blue Ice Blast is a hybrid construction alpine helmet built around one engineering priority: the most protection possible at the lowest achievable weight. At 145g in S/M, it is among the lightest CE EN 12492-certified climbing and mountaineering helmets available — and the four-layer construction means that weight reduction has not come at the cost of protection depth.

  • One-piece EPP main shell — Expanded Polypropylene is a multi-impact resilient foam that does not require a hard outer coating; it absorbs impacts and rebounds to shape after minor knocks, making the helmet more durable over its service life than single-material EPS constructions.
  • Frontal and top EPS inserts — Expanded Polystyrene inserts in the highest-exposure zones (front and crown) provide targeted, high-energy shock absorption precisely where the risk of rockfall and impact is greatest.
  • Polycarbonate protective layer — an outer polycarbonate shell layer adds surface abrasion and wear resistance over the EPP body, protecting the structural foam without adding meaningful weight.
  • Aramid penetration layer — Aramid fibre (the same family as Kevlar) provides a penetration-resistance layer against sharp debris and rock shards, a critical protection layer in alpine and ice climbing environments.
  • Optimised headlamp attachment — integrated clip and elastic retention system on the front and rear provides a stable, rattle-free headlamp fit compatible with all standard mountaineering torches.
  • Low-profile contour with goggle and eyewear compatibility — the slim silhouette is specifically shaped to sit cleanly with glacier glasses, oversized sunglasses, and full monolense goggles without pressure on the frames.
  • Occipital retention system — the rear adjustment dial accommodates a wide range of head shapes and fits comfortably over a thin beanie in cold conditions.
  • Glove-compatible SR buckle — ergonomic single-hand buckle operable with full mountaineering gloves.
  • High ventilation — open channel design delivers significant airflow on sustained technical approaches and high-output objectives.
  • Helmet holder included — dedicated storage holder for transport and pack carry.
